Eczema brand joins campaign to reduce harmful chemicals in skin care products

Exederm, an Ultra Sensitive Skincare range for Eczema sufferers, becomes the latest signatory to the “Compact for Safe Cosmetics”

“The exederm philosophy is perfectly aligned with that of the campaign for safe cosmetics. It’s just common sense to us” said John Gardiner, President of Bentlin Products LLC.

The basic concept behind Exederm products is that less is better and that those with sensitive skin should avoid unnecessary chemicals or additives that can irritate or trigger an eczema flare-up.

On the exederm site the company highlights the difference in formulation between its brand and many well known brands including children’s creams and washes.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is a coalition of public health, educational, religious, labor, women’s, environmental, and consumer groups working on the ground in communities, in the halls of lawmakers, and directly with cosmetic manufacturers to encourage reformulations and safer ingredients.

Over 500 companies have voluntarily signed a pledge called the campaign’s “Compact for Safe Cosmetics,” a pledge to formulate products that do not use ingredients that are known or suspected to cause certain health harms within three years of signing.
